Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur, popularly known as BCREC, was set up on 21st August, 2000, under the overall management of Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College Society. The institute is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the architect of modern West Bengal. The institute offers a variety of B.Tech programmes in engineering like CSE, IT, ECE, Computer Science and Design (CSD), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), EE, ME and CE, and also offers programmes like M.Tech, MBA and MCA. The institute has earned NBA accreditation for B.Tech ECE & CSE disciplines. The institute has been accredited with 'B+' grade by NAAC with effect from 13.09.2021. The institution is situated within 5 km from the National Highway (NH-2) and 8 kms from the Durgapur Railway Station. The nearest airport is only 15 kms away (Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport -RDP).


About Durgapur

Durgapur is a major industrial and tier-II city and a municipal corporation in Paschim Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the fourth largest urban agglomeration after Kolkata, Asansol and Siliguri in West Bengal and was planned by two American architects, Joseph Allen Stein and Benjamin Polk in 1955. Durgapur is the only city in eastern India to have an operational dry dock. Durgapur has been nicknamed as the 'Ruhr of Bengal'.


The domestic airport of the city is Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport. The airport is roughly 15 kilometres from Durgapur's City Centre. It is India's first private-sector Greenfield airport. It is located in a place called Andal. The airport has direct flights to New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, which are operated by Air India and Spicejet.


Durgapur is served by Durgapur railway station. It is one of the most important station of Eastern Railways where almost all express trains give a stop, except a few long-distance trains like the Howrah - New Delhi Rajdhani express and Duronto express. It falls in the Bardhaman-Asansol section of Eastern Railways and Howrah-Gaya-Delhi line of Indian Railways.
